Astaxanthin

Haematococcus Pluvialis

Astaxanthin is a naturally occurring marine carotenoid algae found in nature. Carotenoids are known for their therapeutic benefits because of their antioxidant properties. Studies suggest that Astaxanthin supports skin, joint and tendon health and the body's normal inflammatory response after strenuous exercise. The green microalga Haematococcus Pluvialis is considered the richest source of Astaxanthin. To date, there are more than 1,000 peer-reviewed papers published in scientific journals studying and supporting the health benefits of astaxanthin. Most research studies to date have used dosages between 2 mg and 24 mg daily. Astaxanthin is on the GRAS substance list of the U.S. FDA. *

Boswellia

Boswellia Serrata

Boswellia resin (Indian Frankincense | Olibaum) species have been used as medicines for thousands of years. Boswellia Serrata (Salai/Salai guggul), a moderate to large sized branching tree of family Burseraceae, grows in dry mountainous regions of India, Northern Africa and Middle East. Oleo gum-resin is tapped from the incision made on the trunk of the tree. In vitro studies and animal models show that boswellic acids were found to inhibit the synthesis of pro-inflammatory enzyme, 5-lipoxygenase (5-LO) including 5-hydroxyeicosatetraenoic acid (5-HETE) and leukotriene B4 (LTB-4), which cause bronchoconstriction, chemotaxis, and increased vascular permeability.  *

Cayenne Fruit Extract

Capsicum Annuum

Cayenne pepper contains a substance known as capsaicin. Capsaicin is a compound that was first isolated from chili peppers in crystalline form in 1878. Capsaicin is a neuropeptide-active agent that affects the synthesis, storage, transport, and release of substance P, which is believed to be the principal chemical mediator of pain impulses from the peripheral  nervous system to the central nervous system. FDA-labeled indications for capsaicin are arthritis and musculoskeletal pain, and FDA-nonlabeled indications are neuropathy postoperative complications, postherpetic neuralgia, postoperative nausea and vomiting (prophylaxis), and psoriasis. *

Cat's Claw

Uncaria Tomentosa/Uncaria Guianensis

Cat’s claw is a woody vine that grows wild in the Amazon rainforest and other tropical areas of Central and South America. Its thorns resemble a cat’s claws. There are two species, U. tomentosa and U. guianensis that are traditionally used in South America for their therapeutic properties. Cat’s Claw bark contains oxindole alkaloids and sterols. Recent studies suggest that these are effective antioxidants, but their therapeutic properties may result from their ability to inhibit TNFalpha and to a lesser extent PGE2 production. *

Turmeric Curcumin

Curcuma Longa

Turmeric is a widely used spice and coloring/flavoring agent that comes from the root of Curcuma Longa and has received tremendous interest from both the medical/scientific world and from culinary enthusiasts, as it is the major source of the polyphenol curcumin. A relatively low dose of the complex may provide health benefits for people that do not have diagnosed health conditions. Most of these benefits can be attributed to its antioxidant and healing properties. Turmeric is on the GRAS substance list of the U.S. FDA.  *

White Willow Bark Extract

Salix Alba

Willow bark’s health-benefit potential has been acknowledged throughout history. Willow bark was commonly used during the time of Hippocrates, when people were advised to chew on the bark to relieve various symptoms. The active extract of the bark, called salicin, after the Latin name Salix, was isolated to its crystalline form in 1828 by Henri Leroux, a French pharmacist, and Raffaele Piria, an Italian chemist, who then succeeded in separating out the acid in its pure state, Salicylic Acid which is the active ingredient in aspirin.. *

UC-II®  Collagen

UC-II®  is a trademark of Lonza Group

Containing the building blocks of joint cartilage, Type II Collagen studies have shown a significant effect on reducing degradation in joints.  Unlike collagen types I and III, which are ubiquitously distributed, collagen type II has a relatively restricted localization. In the adult, collagen type II is the major structural component of the hyaline cartilage of the articular surfaces.

Type II Collagen has demonstrated therapeutic value to aid connective tissue health, as well as improving mobility and ease of motion for people with joint conditions. UC-II®  has demonstrated the ability to induce tolerance, effectively supporting joint health. *

Eggshell Membrane Collagen

Eggshell membrane collagen has recently started making waves in the health community. Eggshell membrane collagen is a relatively new dietary supplement that contains naturally occurring glycosaminoglycans and proteins essential for maintaining healthy joint and connective tissues. Open-label human clinical studies were conducted to evaluate the efficacy and safety of eggshell membrane collagen as a treatment for pain and inflexibility associated with joint and connective tissue disorders. It showed clinically meaningful results from a brief responder analysis, demonstrating that significant proportions of treated patients may be helped considerably from eggshell membrane collagen supplementation. *

Hyaluronic Acid (HLA)

Naturally produced by your body, hyaluronic acid is found in the synovial fluid of joints. In human beings, HA is present in every connective tissue and organ such as skin, synovial fluid, blood vessels, serum, brain, cartilage, heart valves, and the umbilical cord. In particular, synovial fluid has the highest concentration of HA anywhere in the body at 3–4 mg/mL. This fluid lubricates joints, decreasing friction during movement, which minimizes the likelihood of bones grinding together and causing discomfort. In people with arthritis, hyaluronic acid levels have deteriorated, creating flexibility issues, soreness, and achy joints. Extensive research shows that this ingredient is extremely effective at relieving joint discomfort and improving flexibility. *
